Les Menuires is one of the seven resorts that comprise the Three Valleys ski area — one of the largest in the world. The other six are Courchevel, Méribel, La Tania, Orelle, Val Thorens and Brides-les-Bains. Of all the resorts Les Menuires is the plainest but also the most cost effective. It is popular with all levels of skier and has great access to superb skiing and snowboarding facilities and activities. In fact, there are more than 60 pistes in total, covering a distance of over 160kms. However, the resort is just as spectacular in the summer months and provides many outdoor challenges and pastimes, including paragliding, rock climbing, and hiking among others. It also has a multitude of bars and restaurants as well as a couple of gym/fitness centres, cinemas, and an ice rink and a tobogganing area. There is also an arts hall that is host to jazz, blues and classical concerts throughout the year.
The nearest international airports are 2 hours away at Lyon, Grenoble and Geneva. The seasonal airport at Chambéry can be reached within an hour. The TGV goes into Moûtiers, which is about half an hour away and the motorway can be reached in less than an hour.
