Property Description
A lovingly restored old schoolhouse in the village of Capbis situated on the edge of the Pyrenees foothills.
The ground floor consists of a large open plan area that has a kitchen area, a dining area and a lounge area. There is ample dining space for 8 people and the lounge will also accommodate a similar number with ease. The cooking and heating are all electric, hot water is heated in a storage tank by electricity. There is a satellite dish which is currently decoded via Freesat so not all channels are always available but always has some watchable content. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms. 2 of which contain king size beds and the other has a bunk bed and 2 single beds. The master bedroom has an en suite bathroom with shower and the other 2 bedrooms share a bathroom with bath and shower.
Solar panels on the roof are connected to the mains grid to provide some extra income which is roughly 2000 euros a year.
You can see the exact location of the property by entering "8, Chemin De L'Ecole, Capbis" into google maps.
The nearest town is Nay. Nearby cities are Pau, Lourdes and Tarbes. Ryanair run cheap flights to Lourdes-Tarbes airport from Stansted and other air travel options include Pau and Toulouse. Rail travel is possible via nearby Coaraze station although you would need to find some way of travel from here as it is quite a long walk. The best way by car is to travel to Pau and then take D938 to Igon and cut across from there.
The ski resorts I have visited most are Gourette, which is roughly 1 hour drive along the Ossau valley, Cauterets which is along the next valley to the east, and Pourtalet which is a good last resort for snow as it is situated at the France-Spain border high up in the Pyrenees. The area is also good for cycling and hiking whether that be along the local farm roads or further into the mountains. Local attractions include the cities of Pau & Lourdes, thermal resort of Argeles Gazost, La Ferme Du bon'air, Zoo D’asson, Grottes de Betharam, Parc Animalier des Pyrenees, Beaucens Donjon des Aigles, and the Jurancon wine area.
